Lewis David Oldham

My main bodies of work revolves around, in one form or another, industrial heritage & natural phenomena/ processes in the North-West of England & abroad. Sometimes the link back to this is subtle, other times it is bold, but it is always investigative.

I studied my BA in Stockport (2014-2017) & then studied a MA at UCLAN (2017-2018). During my time at UCLAN I set up a darkroom/ studio then called Rabbit Hole Studios. We had two darkrooms, an alternative process ‘dim’room, three studios and ran residencies.

I had a hiatus from project work to set this up, Rabbit Hole Studios split due to landlords selling our mill property. The Studio then became Rabbit Hole Imaging & Hatter Editions. It was during this time that skills where honed in the darkroom and digital darkroom and I was content with being in a supportive role within the creative community; Building up Hatter Editions meant I was working intimately with a lot of beautiful work.

I noticed that I would try to pick up projects but couldn’t get into them, I was shooting but nothing coherent. My creative practice was stifled. Fast-forward & with some nudges & pushes from friends & clients I am working on projects again. Hatter Editions still supports the community and Rabbit Hole Imaging is still photographing and scanning for designers.
